About The Position
The Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education teacher licensure in grade and subject area appropriate for the assignment
- Ability to work with diverse population
- Knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention helpful
- Bilingual Spanish
- Dual certification in ESL and/or Moderate Disabilities
Responsibilities
- Assist in the discipline of all students (all grades)
- Assist in the supervision of all security personnel for Chelsea High School
- Responsible for and supervise detention before, after and during school, conduct parental conferences
- Act as a liaison with certain community organizations
- Prepare for court appearances
- Conduct status hearings; serve as liaison with social services and community agencies
- Coordinate school-based meetings with social workers, guidance and deans
- Attend IST meetings if needed; facilitate parent outreach and involvement; and assist with coverage of cafeteria during lunches
- Is required to work beyond the regular school day to meet with parents, individual or groups of students and staff; athletic teams and perform other duties as directed by the Principal or Assistant Principals
- Participate in weekly Dean PLC and strategic planning for school-wide student support initiatives, coach teachers on behavior management strategies in support of the school-wide plan, facilitate student groups to develop student skills
- Support the development and implementation of Advisory curriculum
- Coordinate student data for required reporting
- Participate on leadership team for NCLB/SIP plan development
- Coordinate, and when necessary, present appropriate grant work and/or professional development activities
- Attend and participate in leadership meetings
