About The Position

The Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education teacher licensure in grade and subject area appropriate for the assignment
  • Ability to work with diverse population
  • Knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required

  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention helpful
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Dual certification in ESL and/or Moderate Disabilities

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the discipline of all students (all grades)
  • Assist in the supervision of all security personnel for Chelsea High School
  • Responsible for and supervise detention before, after and during school, conduct parental conferences
  • Act as a liaison with certain community organizations
  • Prepare for court appearances
  • Conduct status hearings; serve as liaison with social services and community agencies
  • Coordinate school-based meetings with social workers, guidance and deans
  • Attend IST meetings if needed; facilitate parent outreach and involvement; and assist with coverage of cafeteria during lunches
  • Is required to work beyond the regular school day to meet with parents, individual or groups of students and staff; athletic teams and perform other duties as directed by the Principal or Assistant Principals
  • Participate in weekly Dean PLC and strategic planning for school-wide student support initiatives, coach teachers on behavior management strategies in support of the school-wide plan, facilitate student groups to develop student skills
  • Support the development and implementation of Advisory curriculum
  • Coordinate student data for required reporting
  • Participate on leadership team for NCLB/SIP plan development
  • Coordinate, and when necessary, present appropriate grant work and/or professional development activities
  • Attend and participate in leadership meetings
