About The Position

This position facilitates team professional development to enhance student learning, attendance, discipline, and testing. The role serves as a team coordinator and works with the principal, assistant principals, and other staff to ensure an optimum learning environment for all students.

Requirements

  • Requires a valid WA state teaching certificate endorsed in Elementary Education K-8.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum five years teaching experience.
  • Valid Washington State Teaching certificate.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and access to personal transportation.
  • Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.
  • Knowledge of high school operations.
  • Knowledge of the student learning process.
  • Knowledge of instructional best practices.
  • Skill in effective process, problem solving, and organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to implement effective instructional strategies.
  • Ability to provide and guide staff professional development.
  • Ability to model commitment to continued professional growth, including setting and achieving personal and professional goals.
  • Ability to set priorities and coordinate activities.
  • Ability to demonstrate reasonable, reliable and regular attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs staff development in the academy to which teachers and other staff are assigned.
  • Works with staff on best practices for curriculum development and instructional strategies to close the achievement gap, improve instruction, and to create an optimal learning environment.
  • Develops, coordinates, and/or delivers in-service training to effect changes and improvements in curriculum delivery; facilitates the improvement of instruction through guidance, support, mentoring, modeling, and coaching; may demonstrate effective instructional delivery; models successful growth principles by setting professional goals and tracking achievement.
  • Works with staff to provide feedback on program and team effectiveness and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements state required testing; coordinates process with District personnel and building staff to establish and maintain a successful testing environment.
  • Responds to inquiries from District staff and parents concerning materials, teaching methods, curriculum implementation and integration, and special projects pertaining to the academy.
  • Administers minor discipline to enhance student academic achievement and attendance; informs parent when assigning detention or Saturday School.
  • Monitors student attendance; calls and meets with parents regarding attendance issues; ensures BECCA requirements are met; supervises students in lunchroom, in hallways, on school grounds, and in any program held at the school under school district sanction.
  • Organizes activities; makes plans in conjunction with staff advisory for “Academy Time”.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service training programs; attends related District meetings and related local, regional, and national association meeting as assigned.
  • Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities as needed or as assigned.
  • Performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.
  • Regular, reliable, predictable, attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.
