About The Position

This role involves providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in 7th History, enabling them to fulfill their potential and develop competencies for successful societal function. The position also includes coaching responsibilities, directing and managing assigned program areas of extracurricular and intramural athletics, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing opportunities for student participation in athletic activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI).
  • ESL Certified.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject assigned (7th History).
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.
  • Knowledge of overall operations of athletic program.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics.
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret data.
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel.
  • Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • 2 years successful teaching and coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and accommodate individual student differences.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities and faculty meetings.
  • Direct and manage assigned areas of the district’s athletic program.
  • Maintain physical and academic eligibility requirements for student participation in sports.
  • Manage assigned athletic operations, including ticket sales, game officials, and facility preparation.
  • Attend district athletic contests and arrange logistics for out-of-town events.
  • Implement district student management policies related to athletics and ensure enforcement of discipline.
  • Develop and administer budgets for assigned athletic areas.
  • Maintain an inventory of athletic supplies and equipment.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and recommend hiring for coaches and support staff.
  • Support athletic booster club activities.
