About The Position

This anticipated full-time instructional vacancy is for a Gifted Social Studies teacher serving middle school students in grades 6–8 at Dr. John Long Middle School in Wesley Chapel, Florida. The estimated start date is immediately, and the position is scheduled for 196 days per year. The role is benefit eligible. The teacher develops, plans, organizes, and implements an instructional program for students through curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programs. The teacher follows procedures to maintain safety and security and to meet federal, state, and local regulations. For secondary education positions, the role may require teaching an additional period beyond the base contract. If required, that period is compensated at the effective negotiated rate in addition to base salary, paid as a supplement in equal payments according to the District’s payroll calendar, and considered part of salary for Florida Retirement System purposes. Employment requires the applicable Florida educator certification or an accepted alternative, and the District conducts fingerprinting and Level II background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or approval by or participation in a state-approved certification pathway program.
Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate or District-issued adjunct certification, or a valid statement of eligibility.
Fingerprinting and Level II background screening.
