About The Position

Responsible for providing direct supervision and care for a group of children through a caring, positive, authoritative relationship. Makes children feel welcome and comfortable. Assists in the planning and implementing of scheduled periods of activities, which are developmentally appropriate and ensures the safety and well-being of the children as well as providing a model of quality.

Requirements

Associates degree or Child Development Associate (CDA) minimum required for position.
Requires passing of DCF criminal background screening, present a negative TB test result, pass pre-employment drug screening and fitness for duty exam.
Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with RClubs mission and program goals.
Must have the physical ability to lift children as needed or physically separate children as needed and participate in housekeeping responsibilities.
Requires ability to work beyond scheduled time, be punctual and reliable, can be reached via telephone and be able to take direction.
Must adhere to the procedures for reporting child abuse.

Nice To Haves

Experience in childcare field preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepares and Implements a program of activities in accordance with agency curriculum for a group of children.
Prepares lesson plans.
Maintains attendance records for a designated group of children and Adheres to regular work and activity schedules.
Assists in food preparation and distribution.
Establishes and Maintains control and safety of an assigned group of children.
Assures the orderliness and cleanliness of designated work area(s).
Serves as an effective role model for the children by Assisting children in a way that develops the childs role and initiative and Interacts in ways that help them learn.
Assists children with feeding and bathroom needs i.e., changing diapers, helping child to restroom, feed child, etc.
Maintains a positive and professional attitude with parents, children and staff at all times.
Participates in parent contact and communication as assigned.
Communicates the childs progress with parents in a positive and supportive manner.
Wears the appropriate clothing for child care duties and Identifies safety hazards and immediately Corrects them or Reports them to supervisor.
Attends staff meetings, training events, workshops, etc. and Maintains required level of training hours with required documentation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
