About The Position

The Teacher Assistant supports teachers at San Antonio College Prep HS with students’ academic goals and classroom learning. The role works with small groups or individual students, helps implement classroom management and behavioral plans, and supports differentiated instruction. It also assists with ARD/IEP paperwork and special education reporting, and supervises students during school activities and events. The position is full-time and follows normal school hours.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of management.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
• Ability to organize special programs for the assigned campus.
• Ability to use computers, district software and databases, spreadsheets, word-processing software, a calculator, a copy machine, and a telephone.
• Ability to analyze data.
• Ability to use effective interview techniques, public-speaking skills, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 48 college hours is preferred.
• Experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in supporting student academic goals by working with small groups or individual students.
• Assist teachers in enforcing classroom management and behavioral plans to create an appropriate learning environment.
• Supervise students during breakfast, recess, lunch, dismissal, special events, and programs.
• Assist teachers with preparing paperwork for the ARD/IEP process.
• Collect and enter data for special education reports and documents.
• Assist teachers with planning, preparing, and implementing differentiated instruction for individual students and groups.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
