About The Position

As an Assistant Teacher at the Primrose of Manhattan at East 82nd Street, you’ll create a fun, safe environment with a daily schedule designed to develop children’s confidence and independence. Our teachers help guide infants through preschool age children through small group instruction as they grow their ability to absorb new content and understand increasingly complex information. You’ll help to create a fun, safe environment for little ones as they explore and learn through purposeful play that nurtures their social, emotional, cognitive, creative and physical development. Spend your days building genuine relationships with each child. Help children explore the world, improve their motor skills and grow their vocabulary. Work with your co-teacher to implement the lesson plans from the research-informed Balanced Learning® curriculum. Maintain a well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence. Discover what works best for each child as you teach them about the world around them.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous teaching experience required
  • CPR / First Aid certified required
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children in childcare setting
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
  • Must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib.
  • Employee must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Experienced in working in early childhood education, preschool, child care or daycare centers.
