Teacher Assistant - Mapleton School
About The Position
The Mapleton School, located in Malvern, PA, is seeking Teacher Assistants to provide direct behavioral intervention to students. This role is part of a supportive, educational, and clinically focused environment. The Teacher Assistant will work with other dedicated professionals who share a passion for helping individuals in need. The Mapleton School offers an education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels, utilizing a multi-sensory educational strategy. The school program focuses on the transition from school to career and the necessary interrelated skills. Devereux's approved private schools provide high-quality, innovative special education programs in partnership with families and school districts to ensure students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they need to succeed. Students may attend as day students or as part of residential treatment, with each student having an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) outlining goals and strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavior disorders preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensure student safety
- Assist in establishing classroom environments that are conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behaviors
- Work with the Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups
- Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher
