About The Position

ACCESS Academy is looking for a Teacher Assistant who enjoys working with young children ages 5-8. Our Lower School serves students with learning differences and disabilities in a supportive, engaging classroom environment. This role may be a good fit for someone who is patient, energetic, nurturing, and comfortable providing hands-on support throughout the school day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Previous experience working with children

Responsibilities

• Support the teacher with instruction, classroom activities, and small and large group learning.
• Help students with classroom routines, behavior, and transitions throughout the day.
• Prepare materials and help keep the classroom organized and ready for students.
• Supervise students in and outside the classroom, following established safety procedures.
• Encourage students’ social development and independence through learning and play.
• Lead classroom activities when the teacher is absent, as directed.
• Protect the confidentiality of student information.
• Teacher Assistants may occasionally be asked to help in other Academy classrooms based on student and staffing needs.
