About The Position

The Teacher Assistant (Early Head Start) supports the Lead Teacher to keep an Infant/Toddler classroom safe, organized, and aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and NYS OCFS early learning standards. You help implement HighScope and enhancements (Pyramid Model, I Am Moving I Am Learning, Outdoor Instruction), complete screenings and documentation in GoEngage, and enter child observations in COR.

Requirements

• CDA (Infant/Toddler) or obtain within 15 months.
• 2+ years of experience working with infants/toddlers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with parent engagement.
• Teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with online assessment tools.
• Familiarity with Teams/Zoom.
• Knowledge of the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Valid NYS driver’s license.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, squat, and kneel.
• Ability to stay regulated during stressful moments.

• Occasional overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant Infant/Toddler classroom.
• Implement HighScope curriculum and enhancements such as Pyramid Model, I Am Moving I Am Learning, and Outdoor Instruction.
• Complete screenings and documentation using GoEngage.
• Enter child observations in COR.
• Engage with families during drop-off and pick-up.
• Participate in scheduled parent meetings or trainings.
