This position's goal is to assist the Early Childhood Teacher with day-to-day activities in an early childhood education setting. The role involves practicing appropriate interaction and language with students, ensuring student safety and welfare, and assisting in the implementation of educational programs. The assistant will prepare and use instructional materials, support teacher-planned activities, and follow up on lessons. They will also supervise small groups and work with individual students under the teacher's direction, collaborating on activity planning and implementation. Additionally, the role involves selecting supplementary materials, assisting with parent activities, and supervising children during mealtimes, encouraging good eating habits. The position may also require assistance with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene (diapering, catheterization), mobility assistance (lifting, transferring), seizure control, feeding (suctioning), adaptive equipment, and behavioral support using positive strategies. Maintaining a neat work environment, adhering to equal employment and nondiscrimination policies, and participating in professional learning programs are also key responsibilities. The assistant must stay updated on job-related developments and ensure adherence to safety rules, federal and state laws, and School Board policies. Other duties may be assigned by school administration.
