About The Position

The position of Teacher Assistant-Early Childhood Ed (Pre-K) (Grant) is responsible for assisting the Early Childhood Teacher with day-to-day activities in a Pre-Kindergarten setting. This role involves providing care and supervision to students, collaborating with the assigned teacher, and interacting with other school personnel. There may be limited communication with parents under the direction of the teacher. The position requires medium work, involving exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Requirements

• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
• Must hold and maintain a valid State of Florida Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or equivalent certification in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards.
• Or an earned associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• If additional hours of continuing education are mandated by program funding source, they must be obtained within the required time frame for continuing active employment.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Early Childhood Teacher with day-to-day activities.
• Provide care and supervision to students.
• Work with the assigned Early Childhood Education Teacher to provide care and supervision to students on a daily basis.
• Interact with other personnel within the assigned school in performing daily work routine.
• Periodically communicate on a limited basis with parents under the direction of the assigned Early Childhood Education Teacher.
