About The Position

The University of Wyoming is seeking a Teacher/Artist of Trumpet for an Assistant Professor, Tenure Track position. This role involves recruiting and teaching trumpet students, maintaining a high-quality performance reputation nationally and internationally, coaching chamber ensembles, and participating in outreach activities. The position also includes teaching classes in a secondary area (e.g., jazz, history, brass methods), serving as brass area coordinator, fostering an inclusive environment, and contributing to university service through creative activity, committees, and student advising.

Requirements

• Doctoral Degree in Music
• Evidence of active professional performance in a variety of musical settings
• Teaching experience at a collegiate level
• Eligible to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

• Successful full-time college teaching experience
• Proven track record in recruiting students and working with public schools
• Experience teaching in a secondary area such as jazz/commercial music, music history, brass methods, or recording arts
• Experience with a variety of media to promote personal and student

Responsibilities

• Recruit, teach, and maintain a high-quality trumpet studio
• Maintain and grow a reputation for high quality performance in the region, nationally, and internationally
• Coach chamber ensembles
• Participate in outreach activities and serve as liaison with regional music educators
• Teach classes in secondary area; such as jazz, history, brass methods, etc.
• Serve as brass area coordinator and foster inclusive environment for adjunct faculty
• Work to create a cooperative environment with colleagues and students
• Service to the university includes creative activity, committees, student advising, and other duties as needed
