About The Position

The University of Wyoming is seeking a Teacher/Artist of Trumpet for an Assistant Professor, Tenure Track position. This role involves recruiting and teaching trumpet students, maintaining a high-quality performance reputation, coaching chamber ensembles, participating in outreach, teaching secondary music classes, serving as brass area coordinator, and contributing to university service including creative activity, committees, and student advising.

Requirements

Doctoral Degree in Music
Evidence of active professional performance in a variety of musical settings
Teaching experience at a collegiate level

Nice To Haves

Successful full-time college teaching experience
Proven track record in recruiting students and working with public schools
Experience teaching in a secondary area such as jazz/commercial music, music history, brass methods, or recording arts
Experience with a variety of media to promote personal and student

Responsibilities

Recruit, teach, and maintain a high-quality trumpet studio
Maintain and grow a reputation for high quality performance in the region, nationally, and internationally
Coach chamber ensembles
Participate in outreach activities and serve as liaison with regional music educators
Teach classes in secondary area; such as jazz, history, brass methods, etc.
Serve as brass area coordinator and foster inclusive environment for adjunct faculty
Work to create a cooperative environment with colleagues and students
Service to the university includes creative activity, committees, student advising, and other duties as needed
