About The Position

Responsible for assuring that the tea is dumped and issued by correct flavor and shop order. This role involves monitoring tea delivery systems, maintaining tea levels in hoppers, ensuring the proper tea flavor is used, and monitoring dump stations. The attendant will also be responsible for gathering reclaim for shredding, monitoring the shredding machine, and communicating with production personnel to ensure smooth operations. Daily and weekly reports must be completed and maintained. The role includes returning and documenting materials, operating the shredding machine according to standards, monitoring machine draining, and cleaning hoppers, lines, and dust collectors. Assisting with new bulk tea shipments and bagging, and maintaining housekeeping in the tearoom are also key duties. Adherence to R.C. Bigelow’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety and Health Rules is required. Special skills include the ability to learn computer-related tasks and operate a forklift after passing a driving examination.

Requirements

One-year previous experience in shipping, receiving or material handling operations or equivalent.
Ability to learn computer related work requirements.
Ability to learn proper operation of forklift and pass required driving examination.

Responsibilities

Feeding appropriate tea to hoppers based on production schedules.
Monitoring tea delivery system.
Reading and understanding production reports and requisitions.
Maintaining acceptable levels of tea in hoppers.
Ensuring that the proper tea flavor is being used.
Monitoring and ensuring that the dump stations are filled properly and as required.
Determining the time frame for refills by visual sight.
Identifying and gathering of all reclaim to be shredded.
Monitoring the shredding machine to assure it is running properly.
Being alert to possible tea mixture problems.
Communicating with production personnel to assure production is running as required.
Completing and maintaining daily and weekly reports as required.
Returning and accurately documenting materials from each work center at the end of each production run.
Understanding and operating the shredding machine according to all machine instructions and quality standards.
Monitoring draining of machines after completion of shop order.
Cleaning and air out hoppers and lines to machine after tea is drained.
Cleaning and maintaining dust collectors/filters daily and weekly.
Assisting in receiving new shipment of bulk tea and bagging.
Maintaining housekeeping in the tearoom as instructed.
Following R.C. Bigelow’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
Complying with RC Bigelow Safety and Health Rules.
Performing other duties as assigned or needed.
