About The Position

Cherry Bekaert is investing in the future of tax service delivery, and this role sits at the center of that effort. The Tax Technology Transformation Leader is an internally focused position responsible for advancing the Tax practice's operational capabilities through technology, process improvement and innovation. Working closely with Tax leadership, the Firm's broader Business Transformation function and technology teams, this individual will identify inefficiencies, lead transformation initiatives and drive adoption of tools and platforms that enable our tax professionals to deliver greater value to clients. This role reports directly to the Tax Service Line Leader, with a dotted line to the Chief Transformation Officer. This role is ideal for a tax professional who is energized by the intersection of accounting and technology — someone who understands how tax work gets done, sees opportunities to do it better and has the drive to make change happen across a large, complex organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; interest or coursework in Information Technology or Data Analytics is a plus.
  • Seven or more years of tax or accounting experience within a public accounting firm, with a strong working knowledge of tax compliance, provision and planning processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with change management, process improvement or technology implementation in a professional services environment.
  • Proficiency with AI tools, automation platforms and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word; experience with tools such as Alteryx, Power BI or leading tax technology platforms is valued.
  • Experience with in-person and virtual group facilitation techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and meet project deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor style and messaging for audiences ranging from senior leadership to individual contributors.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear process documentation and user stories to guide technology solution design.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence — able to build trust quickly, navigate resistance to change and foster collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for better ways to get work done.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Prioritization: Collaborate with Tax leadership and Business Transformation Leadership to identify, assess and prioritize opportunities for process and technology improvement across the Tax practice. Develop and maintain a transformation roadmap for the Tax service line, ensuring alignment with the Firm's broader technology and operational strategy. Track and communicate progress against transformation objectives using clearly defined KPIs and performance measures, reporting results to Tax and Firm leadership. Evaluate emerging technologies — including AI, automation and data platforms — and assess their applicability to tax compliance, planning and advisory workflows.
  • Process Improvement and Automation: Identify broken, inefficient or duplicative processes within the Tax practice and lead efforts to redesign, standardize and automate them. Lead and participate in business process analysis sessions with tax professionals and subject matter advisors, translating findings into actionable improvement recommendations. Drive adoption of new technology platforms and workflows, removing barriers to change and building enthusiasm among tax professionals at all levels. Identify work that can be effectively leveraged through the Firm's India team and coordinate transitions to support capacity and efficiency goals. Manage and prioritize a backlog of improvement initiatives based on business impact, resource availability and leadership input.
  • Technology Enablement: Serve as the Tax practice's internal advocate and point of coordination for tax technology platforms, including compliance tools, provision software, workflow automation and data management systems. Collaborate with the Firm's IT and data teams to support platform implementations, integrations and enhancements that serve Tax professionals. Translate business requirements and process documentation into user stories and functional specifications that guide technology solution design. Establish and maintain governance frameworks to support consistent and effective use of technology tools across the Tax practice.
  • Change Management and Communication: Identify and develop transformation ambassadors within the Tax service line who can champion change initiatives within their teams. Support Tax leadership in developing targeted communications and messaging that advance transformation objectives and keep stakeholders informed and engaged. Drive integration of acquired practices into the Firm's "one firm" approach to processes, tools and ways of working. Use strong interpersonal and facilitation skills to build credibility, earn trust and influence adoption at all levels of the organization.
