About The Position

Aprio is a progressive, fast-growing firm looking for a Tax Technology Automation Manager to join their dynamic team. Join Aprio's Information Technology team and you will help clients maximize their opportunities. This role involves working with all levels of the organization to introduce and implement changes in business processes and application practices affecting clients, including proposing system-related business processes and technologies. The manager will perform planning and analysis of new, enhanced, improved, or revised existing information systems or related technologies, strategies, standards, policies and procedures, continuous improvement, and budget for assigned projects. They will stay abreast of current and upcoming technology and software offerings in the industry, understanding their capabilities while assessing their potential value and application in the tax practice, with a focus on creating efficiencies and increasing automation. Continuous communication with tax practice leadership on new technologies and concepts while providing recommendations for software testing is essential. The role includes developing and managing a charter and timeline for testing, evaluating, and implementing new technology, and serving in a project manager role for key departmental initiatives. The manager will analyze audiences and develop effective communication strategies to drive organizational change and ensure adoption, owning the end-to-end process change and overseeing/delivering socialization and training. They will work with teams to drive a continuous improvement mindset and monitor compliance with department policies, procedures, and guidelines. The role also involves developing test procedures to ensure existing system software and modifications meet user specifications, applying system analysis techniques and procedures, including interviewing various resources to gather required information and analyzing and documenting requirements. Support will be provided for the development of software or system functional specifications that allow for the successful development/configuration of select automation software solutions. The individual will work in the evaluation of new technologies and platforms and act as the departmental contact person for the internal DevOps team, IT, and tool vendors. Data analysis techniques will be used to gain insights from various sources, and the role requires being a trusted automation and tooling advisor for DevOps initiatives by providing objective, practical, and relevant ideas, insights, and advice.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with tax software required (Practice Engine, CCH Axcess Tax, GoSystem Tax, UltraTax CS, Lacerte Tax, CaseWare, CCH Engagement, Workpapers CS).
  • Keen attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong analytical skills.
  • 2+ years of experience documenting processes and practices, often using accepted project methodology artifacts, while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Understanding of project management fundamentals.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel.
  • Mid-level knowledge and experience with database principles and computer science fundamentals.
  • Understanding of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).
  • Understanding of relational databases and Power BI.
