Requirements

  • Active CPA or EA license required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations affecting individuals and businesses.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint).
  • Solid Excel skills with the ability to analyze and reconcile data.
  • Proven experience reviewing staff work and managing engagement workflow.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, especially during busy season.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and commitment to client service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates.
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Conduct technical tax research and prepare memos on complex issues.
  • Provide proactive tax planning strategies and recommendations to clients.
  • Lead client communication regarding tax matters, deadlines, and engagement updates.
  • Oversee staff accountants by assigning work, reviewing tax workpapers, and offering coaching and technical training.
  • Support partners and managers in managing client relationships and engagement workflow.
  • Assist during IRS and state audit processes, including drafting responses and assembling documentation.
  • Contribute to improving internal processes, workflow management, and best practices to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance across all client engagements.
