About The Position
Sun Com Mobile is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Sugar Land, Texas. This role plays a key part in supporting tax compliance, financial reporting, and accounting operations across a multi-location retail organization. The Tax Staff Accountant will assist with sales and use tax filings, month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and tax-related reporting, while working closely with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate financial data and regulatory compliance. This position offers strong exposure to multi-state tax environments, large financial datasets, and opportunities for professional growth within the accounting and finance organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1--3 years of accounting or tax experience (public accounting or industry preferred).
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with sales and use tax or multi-state tax environments is a plus.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation and filing of multi-state sales and use tax returns.
- Maintain organized documentation supporting tax filings and compliance requirements.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for tax-related and general ledger accounts.
- Support month-end close activities related to expense and tax accounts.
- Analyze transactional data to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for audits and regulatory inquiries.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax reporting processes through data analysis and automation tools.
- Partner with accounting and operational teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
