About The Position

The #HamFam is seeking a Staff Accountant II with a specialized focus in all things sales and use tax within a multi-state organization. This position is on-site in Alpharetta, GA at our Customer Support Center, working 4 days in office and 1 day remote. A successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys digging into research, improving processes, and collaborating with internal teams and various third party vendors.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or on CPA-track
• Maintains a professional relationship with internal and external customers
• Excellent financial and analysis skills and a thorough background in accounting and finance principles
• Strong business sense and communication skills
• Detail understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
• Ability to analyze and document financial results
• Vertex or other comparable 3rd party sales tax software
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUP formulas
• Some experience with Microsoft Access helpful
• Experience with a company that is multi-location required

Nice To Haves

• Microsoft Dynamics D365 accounting system and IBM Planning Analytic reporting software knowledge a plus
• Retail and/or manufacturing experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing sales tax filings in Vertex
• Researching state tax law
• Tracking nexus
• Reconciling the sales tax liability account
• Leading audit support
• Handling registrations for new store openings and jurisdictions
• Managing exemption certificates
• Working with a third-party vendor on property tax reporting
