About The Position

The Tax Preparer Assistant supports tax return interviews and preparation at an H&R Block franchise location. The role helps clients make informed decisions by assisting with the start and close of tax interviews, providing service to clients, and completing related bookkeeping procedures. Additional state and local requirements may apply.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reading and math skills required to begin and finish the tax return interview.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and on the phone.
• Previous experience with Windows-based computer programs.
• Additional state and local requirements may apply.

Nice To Haves

• Additional coursework in math, accounting, or finance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the beginning of the tax interview by entering client and W-2 information into the tax program.
• Assist with closing the interview by assembling the tax return, obtaining required signatures, reviewing the finished product with the client, and completing bookkeeping procedures.
• Ensure H&R Block clients receive superior service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
