About The Position

Cherry Bekaert has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Tax Partner to join our growing Tax Practice in Dallas, TX. Dallas continues to be one of the nation's leading markets for private equity investment, middle-market business growth, and entrepreneurial expansion. This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to build and expand Cherry Bekaert's market presence while serving as a trusted advisor to privately held businesses, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and complex partnerships navigating the intricacies of taxation. This Partner will serve as a key client relationship leader within Cherry Bekaert's Dallas Tax Practice, with a focus on partnership taxation. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise advising operating partnerships, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and closely held businesses on various sophisticated tax transactions. This role presents a unique opportunity to help clients identify the most effective path through the complexities of Subchapter K while collaborating with Cherry Bekaert's industry and service line professionals to deliver integrated solutions that drive business outcomes.

Requirements

Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
Significant public accounting experience with extensive expertise in partnership taxation and Subchapter K planning.
Demonstrated experience advising private equity-backed portfolio companies, operating partnerships, and closely held businesses.
Deep technical knowledge of partnership allocation methodologies, basis adjustments, transaction structuring, and complex partnership compliance requirements.
Proven ability to serve as a lead advisor on sophisticated tax planning and consulting engagements involving partnership entities.
Established professional network within the Dallas market and a demonstrated track record of developing and maintaining client relationships.
Strong business development capabilities with the ability to identify opportunities, grow revenue, and expand market presence.
Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise executives, private equity stakeholders, and business owners on highly technical tax matters.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Taxation, JD, or related advanced degree preferred.
Previous Private Client Services (PCS), family office, or similar experience is also desirable.

Responsibilities

Serve as the trusted advisor and primary relationship leader for clients with complex partnership tax needs.
Advise private equity-backed portfolio companies, operating partnerships, and middle-market businesses on partnership structuring, allocations, distributions, basis calculations, mergers, acquisitions, and ownership transitions.
Lead the delivery and review of federal and multi-state tax compliance, planning, and consulting engagements involving complex partnership structures.
Partner with private equity sponsors, management teams, and business owners to develop tax-efficient strategies supporting growth, transactions, and long-term value creation.
Identify and cultivate opportunities to expand existing client relationships through proactive advisory services and collaboration across Cherry Bekaert's tax, advisory, and assurance practices.
Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals, fostering technical excellence and a high-performing client service culture.
Contribute to Cherry Bekaert's presence in the Dallas market and throughout Texas through networking, thought leadership, speaking engagements, and business development initiatives.
