About The Position

The Digital Assets Tax Managing Director is responsible for providing tax compliance and tax consulting services to clients while developing, building, and managing client relationships. This role applies advanced knowledge of tax matters to identify and resolve issues, develop planning opportunities, and deliver quality client service. The Digital Assets Tax Managing Director serves clients in the Digital Assets ecosystem, including lab companies conducting token launches, exchanges, market makers, stablecoin businesses, infrastructure companies performing mining and staking activities, fintech companies, and corporations engaging with crypto and blockchain solutions. This position also supports practice development, manages engagement teams, and collaborates with firm leadership to expand Digital Assets Tax services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, required
• Ten (10) or more years of tax experience in public accounting, required
• Five (5) or more years of experience managing tax engagements and client relationships, required
• Experience providing tax compliance and tax consulting services, required
• Experience serving clients in the Digital Assets ecosystem, required
• Experience with business development and practice growth activities, required
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing tax professionals, required
• Experience researching and analyzing complex tax issues, required
• CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required
• Experience with tax research software, required
• Experience with tax compliance software, required
• Advanced knowledge of federal tax compliance and consulting
• Advanced knowledge of tax issues affecting digital assets and blockchain-based business activities
• Ability to identify tax issues, research technical matters, and develop practical recommendations
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and competing deadlines
• Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Ability to lead teams and provide effective coaching and performance feedback

Responsibilities

• Provides tax compliance and tax consulting services to clients in the Digital Assets ecosystem
• Develops, builds, and manages client relationships by understanding client needs and delivering responsive, high-quality service
• Reviews complex tax returns, extensions, estimated tax calculations, and tax workpapers for accuracy and completeness
• Advises clients on tax matters involving digital assets, blockchain-related transactions, protocol launches, staking, mining, NFTs, stablecoins, and related activities
• Identifies tax issues, performs technical research, and develops recommendations for client consideration
• Analyzes client data, business operations, and transaction activity to identify tax planning opportunities and compliance requirements
• Manages multiple tax engagements to ensure timely delivery, appropriate staffing, and adherence to firm standards
• Oversees engagement economics, monitors project status, and addresses issues affecting quality, scope, or deadlines
• Collaborates with firm professionals across service lines to support integrated client service and issue resolution
• Participates in practice development activities, including networking, proposal support, and expansion of existing client relationships
• Monitors changes in tax law, administrative guidance, and industry developments affecting digital assets clients and communicates relevant updates to internal teams and clients
• Provides leadership, direction, and technical guidance to engagement teams
• Mentors and develops tax professionals through coaching, training, and performance feedback
• Ensures work product complies with applicable professional standards, firm policies, and risk management requirements
• Supports the continued growth and development of Digital Assets Tax capabilities within Core Tax Services
• Other duties as required
