About The Position

Public Storage is seeking a highly motivated Tax Manager to support the Income Tax Team in the preparation, review, and management of corporate, partnership, and REIT-related tax compliance. This role requires strong technical expertise across multiple entity types, including corporations and partnerships within a REIT structure, along with experience in federal and multi-state tax filings. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing compliance processes, resolving complex tax issues, and driving efficiencies through the use of tax technology in a dynamic, high-volume tax environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • 4–5+ years of relevant tax experience in Big 4, national CPA firms, and/or corporate tax departments
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate and partnership taxation; REIT experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage tax technology tools to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA candidacy preferred
  • Experience with OneSource (Income Tax, Provision, and/or Apportionment), GoSystem Tax RS, Alteryx, and Bloomberg (BNA) Fixed Assets preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for federal and multi-state tax compliance and filings for corporate and partnership entities, including REIT-related structures.
  • Identify, research, and resolve federal and state tax issues, with a focus on real estate, corporate consolidation, and partnership taxation matters.
  • Review and analyze fixed assets, including like-kind exchanges and Tangible Property Regulations, using Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets tools.
  • Manage and review state apportionment calculations and processes utilizing OneSource Apportionment.
  • Act as a liaison between the accounting department and external tax preparers to support and substantiate tax computations.
  • Manage federal and state tax notices, audits, and communications with taxing authorities, including resolution of tax controversies.
  • Support tax planning initiatives, restructuring activities, and other strategic tax-related projects.
  • Coordinate with external service providers to ensure timely completion of all required tax filings and reporting obligations.
  • Assist in developing and mentoring tax seniors and staff, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing.

  • Base Pay Range: $140,000 - $160,000
