Our tax team focuses on all aspects of tax reporting including enhancing productivity and efficiency of core compliance through process and technology, monitoring tax risk and opportunities across all tax disciplines, engaging and educating Finance and the broader organization regarding tax considerations, and prioritizing team resources to support key work streams. As a Tax Manager in Sales Tax, you will be responsible for taxability research and analysis of Target’s business initiatives. You will leverage your curiosity and passion for indirect tax to ensure the accuracy of the sales tax and fees collected on sales to Guests as well as purchases made by Target. As a Tax Manager, you will leverage your tax expertise, problem solving skills, and business operational knowledge while working on a wide range of strategic priorities. You will work closely with Target business partners to collect data and leverage your critical thinking skills to evaluate the tax implications and system requirements related to Target’s current and emerging operations. The Tax Manager will also: partner with Government Affairs to research and evaluate tax impacts of legislation; assist with taxability determinations through legal research and drafting clear and concise memos and letter rulings; and support the Sales Tax team in audit and compliance matters. Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of Indirect Tax experience at a public accounting firm or commensurate experience in a large corporate environment - retail experience preferred
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to think critically, identify data patterns and issues to suggest corrective action
  • Accountability and ownership of your work
  • Experience with CCH, RIA, and/or Avalara
  • Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.

Nice To Haves

  • MST or JD a plus
  • Experience in using data and analytical tools including Excel, Alteryx and data visualization tools is preferred
  • Experience with Vertex and SAP, or similar tax software and general ledger system, is a plus

Responsibilities
