About The Position
We are partnered with a well‑established CPA firm in Wilmington, DE that is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its growing tax practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who enjoys leading engagements, mentoring staff, and working closely with clients and firm leadership on complex tax matters. The Tax Manager will play a key role in managing client relationships, overseeing tax compliance and planning, and helping guide the development of the tax team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 7+ years of public accounting experience with demonstrated progression in tax complexity and scope
- Active CPA license required
- Prior experience supervising and developing tax staff
- Experience representing clients before taxing authorities
- Strong technical tax knowledge across individual and business returns
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with tax preparation, research, and planning software
Responsibilities
- Review and approve federal, state, and local tax returns of varying complexity
- Assume responsibility for complex individual and business tax engagements
- Manage and delegate tax preparation work to staff and senior accountants
- Conduct and oversee tax research projects to support accurate and efficient outcomes
- Participate in client meetings and tax planning discussions
- Serve as a technical resource for tax staff and accounting/audit team members
- Manage client relationships and act as a primary point of contact on tax matters
- Oversee and manage governmental tax examinations; represent clients before taxing authorities when needed
- Ensure timely, accurate flow of tax returns through the tax preparation process
- Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff; assist with performance evaluations and professional development
- Stay current on tax legislation, regulatory changes, and economic trends impacting clients
- Contribute to practice development through client relationships, referral sources, and community involvement
