The Tax Manager is a full-time, salaried leadership role with competitive benefits and performance-based bonus potential. This position owns the quality and delivery of the firm’s tax work — reviewing returns, managing client relationships, and leading and developing the tax team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned tax professional who wants ownership of a practice, not just a return stack.

Requirements

  • CPA or EA required.
  • 7+ years of progressive tax experience, including review responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or managing tax staff.
  • Strong technical depth across individual, fiduciary, partnership, and corporate returns.
  • Tax planning experience with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and trusts.
  • Proficiency with tax software including Lacerte, TaxDome, and SurePrep; Microsoft Office Suite; QuickBooks Online and Desktop.
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-first orientation.

  • RIA or wealth management industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review individual, fiduciary, exempt, corporate, and partnership returns for accuracy and technical soundness.
  • Serve as the firm’s technical resource on complex or unusual filing positions.
  • Manage responses to IRS and state agency correspondence, examinations, and notices.
  • Own a book of client relationships, serving as primary point of contact through the engagement lifecycle.
  • Partner with wealth advisors to develop and implement integrated tax and financial planning strategies.
  • Identify planning opportunities across multigenerational families, business owners, and trusts.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop tax associates — setting expectations, reviewing work, and building technical capability.
  • Manage workflow, capacity, and deadlines across the team through busy season and beyond.
  • Contribute to hiring and onboarding as the practice grows.
  • Improve processes, technology, and workflow to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Support the growth of the tax practice, including expansion into newly acquired offices.
  • Maintain compliance standards and stay current with evolving federal and state tax law.
