Tax Manager (Atlanta, GA)
About The Position
Mercer Advisors is seeking a Tax Manager to join their Tax Team. This team collaborates with wealth advisors to offer tax compliance services to high-net-worth clients. The role offers a good work-life balance, a supportive environment, and direct client interaction, without the pressures of billable hours, audits, or business development requirements found in traditional public accounting. The Tax Manager will lead client relationships, prepare and review income tax returns, tax projections, and analyses. The ideal candidate has a passion for client service, experience in individual and entity tax preparation and review, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of public accounting experience, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong tax code knowledge and general accounting skills
- CPA and/or EA required
- Highly organized and tax-oriented
- Ability to handle a large volume of activities at one time
- Ability to communicate concepts to clients and advisors in concise and understandable fashion
- Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time-management skills
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Tax a plus
- Experience with CCH, including Axcess, Workflow and Practice, and SafeSend, a plus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and sign tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and businesses
- Create quarterly estimates and projections.
- Responsible for clear & concise communication with clients on all matters related to the delivery of income tax returns
- Perform tax research
- Responsible for timely and accurate response to tax questions, estimates, projections, and analysis with both tax and wealth management clients
- Work with tax staff to respond to tax notices and review of correspondence
- Stays up to date on tax law and any changes, as well as communicates the effects of the law changes to clients
- Mentoring responsibility for a team of Senior Tax Associates, Tax Associates, and/or Tax Support Specialists in the local office or region, as assigned.
