About The Position

The Tax Manager is responsible for accurately preparing and filing state and federal tax documents. In addition, tax managers develop tax strategies and policies that help the client or business maintain compliance with local and federal tax laws and regulations. This role involves managing client relationships within their area of expertise, directing the work of staff employees, and providing on-the-job training and presentations to internal teams. The Tax Manager will provide professional audit and accounting, and/or tax services to assigned clients, manage competing priorities, and represent clients before regulatory agencies. They will meet with assigned business clients and large individual tax clients at least annually, and/or provide direct fieldwork on audit engagements, supervise engagement planning, and monitor progress of engagements in relation to budgets and due dates. Excellent consulting skills are required to develop an understanding of client businesses and use this knowledge to help diagnose needs/opportunities and suggest solutions.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in public accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Meet with assigned business clients and large individual tax clients at least annually, and/or provide direct fieldwork on audit engagements.
  • Ensure proper billing procedures are followed.
  • Provide professional audit and accounting, and/or tax service to assigned clients.
  • Represent clients before regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent consulting skills — develops an understanding of client businesses and uses this knowledge to help diagnose needs/opportunities and suggest solutions.
