About The Position

The Tax Manager is responsible for managing and reviewing complex tax engagements for affluent individuals, families, trusts, and related entities. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients, providing proactive tax planning, consulting, and compliance services while maintaining strong client relationships. The Tax Manager collaborates closely with internal partners, supports business development efforts, mentors staff, and ensures the delivery of high-quality, timely, and compliant tax services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 8+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on high‑net‑worth individuals and family office services
  • 4+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising staff
  • Strong technical expertise in individual, trust, and estate taxation
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing complex tax returns
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client service skills
  • Proven ability to research and interpret complex and evolving tax regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Taxation or related discipline
  • CPA or other relevant professional certification
  • Prior experience with tax software such as CCH Axcess and BNA Income Tax Planner
  • Experience working in a family office or wealth advisory environment

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high‑net‑worth individuals and families, building and maintaining long‑term, trusted client relationships
  • Review complex federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, including gift and estate taxes, as well as partnerships, trusts, and foundations
  • Proactively engage clients to deliver innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance services in a timely and effective manner
  • Coordinate with colleagues outside of the tax group to deliver integrated family office and wealth-related services
  • Represent the tax function during joint prospect calls and meetings with wealth advisors
  • Research and resolve complex tax matters, providing clear written and verbal guidance to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with staff to resolve preparation adjustments and provide coaching, feedback, and training as needed
  • Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines while maintaining high quality standards
  • Analyze and respond to inquiries, examinations, and correspondence from the IRS and state tax authorities
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education to remain current on tax laws and regulations
