The Tax Manager will be primarily responsible for the preparation and/or management of US and Canadian sales and use taxes, State income & franchise taxes, including audits, for HireRight’s US business operations. In addition, the Tax Manager will be responsible for the management of other indirect taxes including property taxes, gross receipts taxes, withholding, VAT, and other miscellaneous taxes. This role will be involved in international tax, Federal compliance Provision, Transfer Pricing, other. The role will report to the Vice President of Tax and will closely partner with the HireRight corporate accounting team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field from an accredited college or university, CPA or MST beneficial
  • Possess thorough knowledge of a variety of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, policies and procedures, audit defense
  • Minimum 8-years state and local tax experience in a large or complex business environment, preferably in the services industry
  • Familiarity with Vertex tax software
  • Experience with implementation/integration of SUT system with a large ERP system, and/or revenue billing systems, strongly preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Exemption certificate management
  • Must have a track record of managing multiple priorities with a demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Must possess a high level of technical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to high standards, integrity and ethics
  • Proactive team leader with a cooperative attitude; desire to ensure compliance
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with state conformity and decoupling is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the state and local tax function for HireRight’s US and Canada business operations
  • Manage relationship with third party partners for co-sourced indirect tax filings
  • Keep abreast of, study and interpret existing and proposed state and local tax laws and regulations and current trends.
  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance of Vertex tax software.
  • Partner with other departments on sales/use and withholding tax matters to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Assist with Transfer Pricing updates and documentation
  • Oversee the work of one support staff
  • Partner with the direct tax team to assist on items as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
