About The Position

Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. RGI, established in 1908, has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States. Rogers Group is currently seeking Corporate Tax Manager to join our in-house tax team. This position is on-site and plays a vital role in supporting the department’s daily operations and long-term growth. This role will be responsible for income tax compliance, provision, and planning activities. The position is highly execution-focused with direct involvement in core tax processes while managing a team and coordinating with co-sourced external tax providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant.
  • 8 - 10 years of progressive income tax compliance experience.
  • 3 – 4 years of management experience.
  • Hands-on experience with: Corporate income tax compliance (multi-state).
  • C‑corps, partnerships, and S‑corps.
  • ASC 740 income tax provision work (non‑SEC).

Nice To Haves

  • Combination of public accounting and in-house corporate tax experience.
  • Experience in a privately held or closely held business.
  • Experience with an ERP (ORACLE R12).
  • Experience with IBM Planning and Analytics.
  • Experience working in mining or construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for C‑corporations, partnerships, and S‑corporations, in coordination with external tax firms.
  • Manage the calculation and review of quarterly estimated tax payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain ownership of tax workpapers, calculations, rollforwards, and documentation supporting both internally prepared and outsourced work.
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 for a privately held company.
  • Conduct in-depth technical research on complex tax issues, document conclusions, implement guidance and contributing to special projects as required.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments and assist in tax audits, providing necessary documentation and support as needed.
  • Manage tax compliance calendars, including extensions, estimated payments, and filings.
  • Serve as day‑to‑day internal lead on outsourced tax engagements, reviewing deliverables and ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Supervise, mentor, and review work prepared by direct reports.
  • Manage tax audits, notices, and correspondence with taxing authorities.
