About The Position

This role serves as a key liaison between senior managers, partners, clients, and staff throughout all phases of engagements. The Tax Manager will prepare and review various tax forms, support compliance matters, and advise clients on tax-exempt status and regulatory considerations. The position also involves identifying and evaluating unrelated business income tax (UBIT), assisting with subsidiary formations, supporting planned giving strategies, and monitoring legislative changes impacting not-for-profit organizations. Additionally, the role includes conducting excess benefit transaction studies, contributing to staff development through coaching and mentoring, and participating in new client business development and relationship building.

  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting, tax consulting, or similar, with a focus on not-for-profit clients
  • 3+ years of direct not-for-profit tax experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Active CPA license
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and tax preparation software

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key liaison between senior managers, partners, clients, and staff throughout all phases of engagements
  • Prepare and review Forms 990, 990-T, and related state returns
  • Support joint cost allocations and tax-exempt compliance matters
  • Advise clients on tax-exempt status and regulatory considerations
  • Identify and evaluate unrelated business income tax (UBIT), including planning and exposure reviews
  • Assist with the formation of taxable and non-taxable subsidiaries
  • Support planned giving strategies and advisory services
  • Monitor and interpret legislative changes impacting not-for-profit organizations
  • Conduct excess benefit transaction studies
  • Contribute to staff development by coaching, mentoring, and sharing technical knowledge
  • Participate in new client business development and relationship building
