Requirements

2+ years’ experience with income tax, sales tax, and other taxes.
The candidate should be a member in good standing of the Law Society of their province of residence.
Proficiency in English and French.

Nice To Haves

Prior tax litigation experience is an asset.
Strong foundational knowledge of Canada’s income tax, sales tax, or other Canadian tax systems.

Responsibilities

Assist clients in responding to federal and provincial audits and strategically advise clients on the various options and steps in resolving tax disputes.
Prepare notices of objection and written representations to the federal and provincial tax authorities.
Assist with litigation in resolving tax disputes, including court appeals, judicial review applications, and other administrative processes such as voluntary disclosures, taxpayer relief applications, ruling requests, and remission orders.
Assist with the preparation of legal opinions with respect to the tax consequences of transactions and performing post-transaction audits for tax efficacy and litigation risk.
