About The Position

At DOZ, we believe stronger communities start with equitable housing and community development. That is why we focus almost exclusively on serving the affordable housing and community development industries. We partner with clients across the country, helping them grow and adapt through high-quality, specialized accounting services. When our clients succeed, communities become stronger and more equitable. It is meaningful work. This is a full-time, in-office internship running from January through mid-March. Interns work an average of 55 hours per week, with peak weeks reaching up to 65 hours during the height of busy season. We share that upfront so you can come in prepared and with a clear understanding of the experience.

Requirements

  • Accounting major working toward the credit-hour requirements needed to sit for the CPA exam
  • Ability to take leave from spring semester classes and commit to 55 or more hours per week during the internship
  • Reliable transportation to and from the office
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship
  • Entrepreneurial, hardworking, and adaptable, with strong critical-thinking skills and a willingness to take on new and challenging assignments

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA and major GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
  • Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course before the internship begins preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete a structured onboarding and training program before working on client engagements
  • Prepare partnership, individual, personal property, and corporate tax returns
  • Learn directly from your team members with a wide variety of specialized experience and technical knowledge
  • Complete an average of 200 tax returns within the 3.5-month internship
  • Meet with your in-charge to review your progress and sharpen your skills
