The Tax Specialist will be responsible for state & local tax returns and other tax compliance matters for various entities within the SMBC group.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3/4 years of experience in tax, with a focus on tax and accounting
• Bachelor’s Degree, in accounting and/or finance is preferred
• Understanding of tax laws and regulations, ASC 740, and financial reporting under GAAP
• Ability to prepare tax returns using OneSource software

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and experience in Alteryx and automation of tax provision/return preparation is a plus

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file corporate state tax workpapers and returns, using OneSource software
• Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments
• Prepare quarterly state tax accruals
• Assist with managing state tax notices and resolving issues with the tax authorities
• Assist and provide support for state tax audits
• Collaborate with external tax advisors and cross-functional teams to support business objectives and drive strategic initiatives.
