We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Tax Experienced Associate to join the team in our National Tax team! CohnReznick is a hybrid firm and most of our professionals are located within a commutable distance to one of our offices. This position is considered remote which means it does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a CohnReznick office location. However, as a remote employee, you may be required to be present at a CohnReznick office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings. YOUR TEAM. This position will support our National Tax Team, which in turn supports the firm’s broader tax practice. The right candidate will have a growth mindset and look for ways to expand their knowledge within both the tax space associated with their specialized services and varying industries. They will also be eager to collaborate on thought leadership, webinars, and seminars while remaining results focused on assisting both internal and external clients in achieving their wide-ranging business goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 1–3+ years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Experience preparing individual income tax returns (Form 1040), fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041), and gift tax returns (Form 709).
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
  • Proficiency with CCH Axcess Tax.
  • Experience working with electronic tax workpapers and document management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities during busy seasons.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in taxation, preferred.
  • Preferred CPA license or enrolled agent.
  • Experience with high-net-worth individuals and family wealth planning.
  • Multi-state tax experience.
  • Knowledge of estate and trust taxation concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex individual income tax returns (Form 1040), including high-net-worth individuals and multi-state filings.
  • Prepare fiduciary income tax returns (Forms 1041) for trusts and estates.
  • Prepare federal gift tax returns (Form 709) and related supporting schedules.
  • Analyze financial information, tax documents, and source data to ensure accurate tax reporting.
  • Utilize CCH Axcess Tax software for tax return preparation, diagnostics review, and electronic filing processes.
  • Research federal and state tax issues and document conclusions.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and resolve tax-related questions.
  • Review tax organizers, workpapers, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and communicate findings to managers and Director.
  • Assist with tax notices, amended returns, and other compliance matters.
  • Maintain organized electronic workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm standards.
  • Manage multiple engagements while meeting filing deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
