About The Position

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team. The Morgan Stanley Baltimore office is a critical component of the Firm`s Global footprint and has 1,400 employees that provide support and services to the Investment Banking, Securities, Investment Management and Wealth Management Businesses. Our Investment Banking Division Finance team is currently seeking to engage with Baltimore's leading talent to fill a position on the Tax-Equity Controllership team. The role requires a highly motivated individual with strong analytical, accounting, technology, people and communication skills. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the Income statement and Balance Sheet reporting processes for structured financial products such as investments and loans. This position requires an understanding of Profit and Loss models (investment accounting) as well as a familiarity with standard month-end general ledger closeout processes, significant Accounting Policies and financial and regulatory reporting functions. We are particularly interested in speaking with you if are a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting and PC skills, as well as a willingness to take on and prioritize various ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and perform critical review of Monthly Profit and Loss. This requires the ability to understand and read financial models and report Profit and Loss and associated cash and non- cash impacts, such as return of capital, dividend accruals and tax credits.
  • Develop general ledger and sub ledger intercompany loans/associated reconciliations as well as set up trading accounts, GL accounts and support SEC line item clean up
  • Update and maintain accurate files to support month end reporting
  • Work closely with the Business Unit, Operations, Legal Entity Controllers, Tax Department and third party providers on a regular basis to report balance sheet and income statement events (sub ledger and general ledger journals)
  • Facilitate general ledger close process monthly; includes the creation of Trial Balances
  • Prepare and review weekly revenue and balance sheet reporting for monthly reconciliation differences and monthly restatement of reporting system and related journals
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly Principal Investment reporting
  • Support monthly reporting and quarterly reporting including FRB and SEC, Disclosures
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis/projects as needed
