About The Position

Experian is seeking a Tax Credit Accountant, internally known as a Tax Credit Specialist. This fully remote role is for a hands-on, technical contributor responsible for identifying complex state and federal tax credits, including jobs-based and investment-related incentives. The position offers autonomy, minimal travel, and the opportunity to leverage data and artificial intelligence to shape the future of tax credits. It is ideal for professionals with public accounting or incentive consulting experience who seek intellectually challenging work without the traditional burdens of timesheets or burnout. The role involves identifying state and federal tax credits, with a primary focus on jobs-based tax credits (excluding WOTC) and basic investment tax credits. It also requires working directly with complex state hiring and employment incentive programs such as the Georgia Jobs Tax Credit, South Carolina Jobs Tax Credit, New York Excelsior Jobs Program, Arizona Quality Jobs Tax Credit, and other comparable state and local incentive programs. The accountant will evaluate workforce and payroll data related to Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) credits, military leave-related credits, and employer-provided childcare tax credits. Collaboration is key, involving translating raw payroll and HRIS data into structured tax credit calculations, preparing defensible and audit-ready documentation, and helping to develop AI-enabled workflows for identifying tax credit opportunities, refining calculations, documentation, and delivery. Staying current on changes in state and federal incentive legislation affecting jobs and investment credits is also a core responsibility. The ideal candidate is technically thoughtful, excited by modernizing tax credits through data and AI, takes pride in their work, enjoys navigating complex incentive programs, and wants to contribute to a team building a smarter, better tax credit model.
