About The Position

The Tax Compliance Supervisor supports the Director of Tax and Compliance in the administration of corporate tax functions across Stonebridge's hotel portfolio. This position oversees tax reporting and compliance activities, supervises tax department staff, and ensures timely and accurate filing, payment, and reporting of tax obligations while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of tax compliance, tax accounting, or related experience required.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality industry experience preferred.
  • Experience working with tax automation platforms, including Avalara, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of monthly Sales and Use Tax returns for an assigned portfolio of hotels and hospitality operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of tax liabilities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local tax law changes and evaluate impacts to company operations and compliance requirements.
  • Support the implementation of tax processes, reporting requirements, and compliance activities for newly acquired or developed properties.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Avalara and identify opportunities to improve tax reporting efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
  • Assist with tax audits, inquiries, and examinations conducted by taxing authorities.
  • Research and resolve complex tax questions submitted by hotel leadership and corporate departments.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and develop Tax Accountant team members to ensure high-quality performance and professional growth.
  • Review completed work prepared by tax staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain organized tax records, supporting documentation, and audit files.
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure the accurate treatment and reporting of taxes.
  • Support special projects, process improvements, and departmental initiatives as assigned.
