About The Position

The Town of Gilbert is seeking a motivated Tax Compliance Auditor I to perform assigned audits and projects, provide legal advice, and assist peers. The role involves researching and communicating with taxpayers, presenting data to internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with colleagues, and handling confrontational situations professionally. The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, driven, adaptable, and enjoys working with people. This is an at-will, FLSA-exempt position and is ineligible for overtime compensation. It is eligible for a hybrid or remote work agreement at the department director’s discretion; modified arrangements may be changed or discontinued. Employees must reside in Arizona regardless of work location. The position is designated as light work. The anticipated start date is November 23, 2026, or December 7, 2026, subject to change.

Requirements

0–1 years of specialized or technical training beyond high school, or equivalent job-related experience.
2 years of customer service experience.
1 year of analytical research, including descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive research.
0–1 years of tax administration, local, or State Transaction Privilege Tax auditing.
0–1 years of legal interpretation of tax code, law, policies, and regulations.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Valid Arizona Driver's License.
Must reside in the state of Arizona, regardless of work location.
