About The Position

The Utah State Tax Commission's Special Services Division is looking for a skilled, motivated and customer service-oriented individual to fill its Tax Compliance Agent position. This person will play an important role in our division's mission to answer taxpayer inquiries and support the funding of multiple state public service programs. You must be current with filing your state and federal taxes as well as pass an FBI level background check. This position is eligible for a remote work schedule after you have been fully trained. These positions may be eligible for remote work from anywhere in Utah (work must be performed in Utah). Effective July 1, 2025 you are required to work in-office two days a weeks and three days remote. If working at a location other than in a state office, this position requires the employee to provide internet service that is of sufficient speed to support all work-related applications, systems, and devices.

Requirements

Must be current with filing your state and federal taxes
Must pass an FBI level background check
Can handle being on the phone for a majority of a workday
Has exceptional customer service skills
Has the ability to handle the occasional escalated call
Must successfully pass a criminal history check

Candidates that live outside the Wasatch Front (Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele and Utah counties)
Experience working in a call center environment
