About The Position

This position is responsible for the collection and processing of tax payments related to properties within East Baton Rouge Parish. Provides information to the public and property related entities regarding the taxes due, adjudication, and redemption of real estate within the parish.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or have obtained a GED
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to deal with the general public on a regular basis
  • Able to multitask
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Pay attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Process customer's payments over the counter, which include managing a cash drawer.
  • Balance register daily and produce the daily transaction report for Treasury.
  • Answer the phone calls and questions regarding property taxes.
  • Process the payments received by mail daily.
  • Provide quality service to all customers. This may include walking them to the Assessor's Office or Clerk of Court to assist in handling Tax Office business.
  • Figure and send via fax or email redemption bills upon request.
  • Research property payment history to determine if prior year taxes are paid in order to update tax system accordingly.
  • Prepare bills and receive proper approval from the Parish Attorney prior to accepting payment for adjudicated properties.
  • Scan documents as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
