About The Position

The Tax Associate role in Bismarck, ND involves preparing individual, business, and other types of tax returns for a diverse client base across various entities and industries. The position requires collaboration with the tax team on all aspects of the tax process, including tax planning, client interaction, and special tax projects. A key responsibility is gathering accurate tax-related information from clients to ensure precise tax return preparation. The role also involves analyzing tax situations from multiple perspectives to maximize client tax benefits and preparing accounting-related reports within a paperless office environment. Continuous learning through training seminars, professional development, and networking events is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Active CPA license or working towards obtaining CPA license preferred; Enrolled Agent (EA) certification also accepted.
  • 1-3 years of tax experience within public accounting.
  • Ability to explain details of tax experience and/or the difference between a 1040 and an 1120.
  • Knowledge of tax accounting principles and IRS regulations.
  • Actively stays up-to-date on the ever-changing tax industry's regulations and policies.
  • Self-starter who enjoys working independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to focus on complex tasks and will quickly understand the firm’s comprehensive compliance processes.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares individual, business, and other types of tax returns for clients in various types of entities and industries.
  • Works with the tax team to ensure the various components of the tax process are performed -- including tax planning, client interaction and performing special tax projects.
  • Gathers relevant tax-related information from the client so an accurate tax return can be prepared.
  • Looks at tax situations from various angles to ensure the maximum tax benefit is applied.
  • Prepares accounting-related reports through a paperless office environment.
  • Attends training seminars, professional development, and networking events.
