About The Position

Tax Associates support the management and oversight of tax processes within Servicing to ensure compliance with investor, regulatory, and company requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating with our tax vendor (Lereta) and local taxing authorities, assisting with audits and responses, preparing borrower correspondence, and performing daily operational tasks related to tax servicing.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in mortgage servicing, property tax administration, or escrow management.
  • Understanding of property tax processes and regulatory or investor compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with third-party vendor coordination and oversight processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily tax servicing functions within the MSP system, including monitoring tax records, updating tax line information, and maintaining accurate loan documentation.
  • Review and process tax bills received from counties or taxing authorities to ensure timely payment and accurate posting to borrower accounts.
  • Coordinate with the tax vendor (Lereta) to address discrepancies, monitor tax payments, and ensure vendor performance and service standards are met.
  • Research and resolve tax-related exceptions by coordinating with counties, taxing authorities, internal departments, and external vendors. This includes written correspondence and telecommunications.
  • Prepare and send borrower correspondence related to tax matters, including one-off notification letters and tax-related inquiries.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by gathering documentation, reviewing tax records, and responding to audit requests.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of tax activity within servicing systems to ensure compliance with company policies and investor guidelines.
