Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Controller, the Tax Analyst will support the organization’s tax compliance, reporting, and analysis activities. This role is well suited for a developing tax professional who enjoys working with data, collaborating with internal and external partners, and building strong technical foundations in corporate taxation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to learn from an exceptional mentor and to develop your Canadian and U.S tax expertise. You will play an essential role in advising on tax matters, preparing tax provisions, and ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of various tax regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical matters in clear simple language
  • Strong organizational, research, writing, verbal and analytical skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required
  • Proactive and self‑motivated, with a commitment to delivering high‑quality results
  • Willingness to learn and grow while also working independently in a collaborative team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tax Fixed Assets (PowerTax) is considered an asset
  • Experience working in a rate regulated environment is considered an asset
  • Exposure to U.S. tax or cross-border taxation is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of Canadian and U.S. tax provisions under U.S. GAAP.
  • Support external tax advisors to prepare Canadian and U.S. federal and state/provincial corporate and partnership tax returns as well as other tax reporting requirements.
  • Monitor legislative developments and help assess impact on the business.
  • Administer tax sharing agreements.
  • Maintain ACB, E&P and Surplus calculations.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax notes and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax budgets and forecasts.
  • Liaise with external auditors.
  • Respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Provide support, advice, guidance and assistance to business units regarding indirect taxes (franchise, gross receipts, sales, use, transfer, property, payroll, production, excise, severance taxes, etc.).
  • Perform ad hoc tax related duties as assigned.
