About The Position

EY is seeking a Tax Advisor for their International Tax and Transaction Tax Services (International Corporate Tax Advisory) team within the Financial Services Office. This role, at the Manager level, involves advising clients in the financial services industry on complex domestic and international tax issues. Key areas of focus include buy-side and sell-side due diligence, structuring, cash tax modeling, internal restructuring, capital structure, refinancing, distressed debt, bankruptcy, and tax attribute calculations. The role also covers international tax operations, cross-border controversy, international tax policy, and quantitative services. The Tax Advisor will be part of client engagement teams, participating in transaction-related due diligence and structuring for private equity and corporate clients. Responsibilities include reviewing and advising on tax computations in financial models, and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of tax data in financial projections. The role requires managing and motivating diverse teams, delivering quality client services, demonstrating technical expertise, maintaining client relationships, and cultivating business development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Law, Business Administration or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience in tax.
  • Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Law, Business Administration or a related field and 4 years of related work experience in tax.
  • 4 years of experience in tax due diligence, deal structuring, and post-acquisition planning.
  • 4 years of experience with inbound or outbound transaction consulting, including international tax research, planning and/or compliance.
  • 4 years of experience working on client engagements, including engagement-related budgeting and billing, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, and escalating issues to tax partners or executives as needed.
  • At least one of the following: 1) active CPA certification; 2) sufficient coursework/experience requirements (as determined by state Board of Accountancy) to obtain CPA certification within one year of hire; 3) US State Bar license; 4) sufficient coursework/experience requirements (as determined by state Board of Law Examiners) to obtain US State Bar license within one year of hire; or 5) Enrolled Agent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients in the financial services industry identify and analyze complex domestic and international tax issues.
  • Focus on buy-side due diligence, structuring and cash tax modeling; sell-side tax assistance, structuring and cash tax modeling; internal restructuring; capital structure and refinancing; distressed debt and bankruptcy; and tax attribute calculations and monetization strategies.
  • Advise clients on international tax operations, including cross-border controversy, international tax policy, international tax quantitative services, internal restructuring, and refinancing.
  • Serve as a member of multiple client engagement teams, participating in due diligence and structuring engagements related to transactions for private equity and strategic corporate clients.
  • Review, assess and advise clients regarding tax computations reflected in their financial models.
  • Assist clients in the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the tax data in their financial projections for the transaction.
  • Manage and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds.
  • Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress.
  • Demonstrate in depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge.
  • Maintain long term client relationships and networks.
  • Cultivate business development opportunities.
