About The Position

We are looking for a Tax Adviser to join the Rio Tinto US Tax Compliance team and assist with state and federal tax compliance issues. This role is a great opportunity to be immersed in a global corporate income tax environment with a wide variety of challenging tax issues. Reporting to the Tax Manager - US Compliance, you will be preparing corporate Income tax returns in OneSource and creating tax basis balance sheets, completing various income tax accounting duties such as journal entry calculation, account reconciliation, group reporting, and financial audit support, supporting IRS and State audit, performing detailed tax research, working with the Finance Team to understanding accounting positions taken and determination of appropriate tax effect accounting position, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements, and promoting, designing, and implementing process improvements that delivery time and/or cost savings.

Requirements

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • A master’s degree in taxation
  • A Certified Public Accountant designation (CPA) or be a candidate for the designation
  • 2-3 years of prior experience in public accounting with a Big-4 firm or others
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with OneSource income tax software
  • Strong Excel skills, able to efficiently manipulate and summarize data
  • Exposure to data querying and modeling

Responsibilities
