About The Position

Via Licensing Alliance, a subsidiary of Dolby Laboratories, is seeking a Tax Administration Analyst to support royalty accounting operations, Licensee reporting, and invoicing. This role focuses on withholding tax administration, customer tax documentation, and financial close activities. The analyst will work with large volumes of royalty and tax data, prepare accurate work products, and serve as a point of contact for various stakeholders including Licensees, Licensors, internal teams, external tax advisors, and the Dolby tax team. The position is integral to maintaining strong customer relationships through professional communication and accurate handling of royalty reporting, billing, collections, and tax inquiries. The analyst is expected to apply strong accounting judgment, understand royalty calculation and allocation methodologies, maintain tax records and data, and ensure tax documentation supports appropriate withholding treatment. This role requires independent work, initiative, process improvement identification, control documentation and implementation, and guidance to team members. Strict adherence to internal controls and operational protocols is crucial. This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week onsite at the Greenwood Village office (Tues/Wed/Thurs).

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 2+ years of relevant accounting, royalty, accounts receivable, tax administration, financial operations, or related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of financial close processes, reconciliations, account analysis, billing, collections, and general tax principles.
  • Experience with withholding tax documentation, customer tax forms, treaty rate support, or international tax administration preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of SAP, BI tools, ticketing systems, or proprietary financial applications preferred.
  • Proven experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, preparing accurate reporting, and recommending process improvements.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, team members, management, and external advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Licensees and Licensors with questions related to royalty reporting, billing, withholding tax documentation, beneficial ownership, treaty rate support, and annual tax form renewal requirements.
  • Respond via email to requests promptly and appropriately, communicate complicated information in a clear and concise manner while maintaining the companies service level expectations.
  • Provide guidance to team members regarding communications to be sent to customers according to department guidelines.
  • Process, analyze, and reconcile large volumes of tax data using Excel and internal systems.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, as needed.
  • Monitor day-to-day activities related to Licensee communications, royalty reporting, invoicing, customer tax forms, vendor receipts, and related system documentation.
  • Maintain tax form and tax rate data within accounts receivable and royalty administration tools to support accurate invoicing and withholding tax treatment.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, external tax advisors, foreign tax authorities, and the Dolby tax team to support timely completion of domestic and foreign tax filings and related information requests.
  • Conduct tax and accounting research as needed, including review of withholding rates, customer documentation requirements, and system application of tax rules.
  • Develop a strong understanding of pool royalty calculation and allocation methodologies, licensing agreements, and implications of patent changes.
  • Identify, recommend, document, and assist with implementation and testing of process, control, and system improvements, including updates to tax form databases, internal software systems, and department procedures.
  • Provide guidance to team members and participate in training activities related to royalty services, tax administration, customer communications, and internal processes.
