About The Position

The Tax Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the company's tax compliance, reporting, and planning initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and helping drive tax strategy. This role involves close collaboration with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data and to provide financial guidance and support. In the early stages of company establishment, the Tax Accounting Manager will significantly contribute to setting up MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain LLC. This includes establishing various operating standards and systems to support the construction of buildings, facilities, and equipment, as well as managing investment and budgets. Post-establishment, the Tax Accounting Manager will oversee the operation of these standards and systems, with the flexibility to improve them as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 4+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience OR Advanced Degree (e.g., master's in business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or related field; J.D.; LL.M. in Taxation) AND 3+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience.
  • 4+ prior years of federal and state income tax experience in a Big 4 firm or a large corporation, including ASC 740 or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Business letters and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of applicable accounts receivable/general ledger system and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of Finance or Accounting Field.
  • Years of finance experience in the automotive industry.
  • Previous experience in a corporate tax department.
  • CPA preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed workpapers to support federal income tax compliance in a timely and accurate manner, including depreciation, intangible property rights, investments, revenue recognition, fringe benefit analyses, and employee stock compensation.
  • Prepare detailed workpapers to support government tax incentive programs, such as Inflation Reduction Act related tax credits, analyzing applicable programs to maximize their value.
  • Prepare detailed work papers to support state income tax compliance in a timely and accurate manner, including state apportionment workpapers (sales, property, and payroll) and state adjustments.
  • Prepare federal and state income tax returns, including amended returns.
  • Oversee the company's sales and use tax compliance process, including analyzing taxability, managing sales tax audits, and ensuring compliance with state/local tax regulations in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage the company's response to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, working closely with external auditors, tax consultants, and internal teams to resolve tax issues and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules to support the annual and quarterly worldwide tax provision, including the SEC Form 10K and 10Q tax footnotes.
  • Participate as a team member with the broader tax team to ensure proper reporting of mergers & acquisitions, cross-border transactions, equity transactions, and various other tactical and planning ideas.
  • Monitor and analyze tax regulatory and compliance developments and tax law changes, documenting their impact on the Company at both federal and state levels.
  • Research and prepare responses to states' notices.
  • Develop and implement process improvements.
  • Develop an understanding of Microsoft businesses and internal financial systems and tools.
